Renaissance

Image
The image above is a tapestry titled The Last Supper created by Bernard Van Orley woven by Pieter de Pannemaker  created in Brussels 1525-28.  According to the video titled "The rare tapestry that changed how others were made / Art, explained" created by The Met the tapestry was woven sideways on from gold and silver thread and wool and silk of single colors.  The tapestry is a connection of the reinvention of Rome by the Catholic church. The image above is interesting because it's the last supper is where christ is having supper with his disciples where he tells them he knows someone in there will betray him where they show their reaction. The image shows the texture and reaction with woven creation makes it look expressive.    The Metropolitan Museum of Art, "Bernard van Orley and Pieter de Pannemaker,  The Last Supper ," in  Smarthistory , January 25, 2016, accessed February 20, 2023,  https://smarthistory.org/bernard-van-orley-and-pieter...

The two Fridas(Las dos Fridas)  This artwork represents feelings of heartbreak. An art element from this picture I like is the space even though they are two different people they are connected to the same  heart representing  the same person just two different sides of the person. Another art element I like is the color of the background. The color of the background represents the darker colors making them look like clouds. One last art element I like is the texture. You can see the texture from the bottom of the dress making the dress look crinkled.  Background   The art work is titled “ The Two Frida’s.”   Frida Kahlo  was known as a rebellious leader in an era where she didn’t meet beauty or social expectations. One way we can see she didn’t meet the beauty standards is by her unibrow that she is famously known for. Frida painted when she was recently divorced we can see it on the right she’s holding a picture of her ex-husband representing he...

Hello my name is Michelle. I am from California but currently in Alaska for work. I am a student at University of Alaska Fairbanks completing my associates degree in arts and a bachelors degree in social work. I expect my blog to be a safe place to share art work and ideas. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to introduce myself.  Art helps me process my emotions and helps me understand my surroundings. Art gives me the opportunity to see things from a different perspective. I remember watching my uncle paint along with a Bob Ross tutorial I believe it was my first interaction with art. I have always appreciated how art made me feel. It helps create a form of communication. We express ourselves by the connection through art forming relationships.                            Tutorial
